A final farewell Jem.

It's one week now since Jimmy, my brother-in-law left us to go to a far better place.

He is now resting near my father, mother and other family members in St Fintan's in Sutton. If you walked a bit down the slope at St Fintan's, and looked to your centre left, and if the light was just right you would be treated to the lovely serene view that you see here to the right. My father used to say that it was "The healthiest graveyard in Ireland!" because of the clean and fresh sea air.

Jimmy appreciated that kind of humour too.

I mentioned below that Jimmy loved the tenor voices of Mario Lanza and Luciano Pavarotti. So I will now bid a final adieu to you Jem.... no one that ever knew you will forget you..... walk with God my friend.

  1. Very nice tribute to Jimmy. Mario Lanza's voice echoed throughout the chapel as Jimmy was carried to the waiting hearse which was an old carriage drawn by two beautiful black fresian horses.
    R.I.P. Jimmy.

    From,
    Young Jim.

  5. Hi jim
Not sure how it was that I stumbled across your Blog, but i'm glad I did. My husband and I are coming to Ireland for a holiday (and look up distant relatives !) in May, and your link to Irish Jewellery already has me planning on which piece(s) to buy when I'm there :)

You did Jimmy proud with your tribute; I am sure he was eqally proud to have such caring family.

  6. Jim, very moving piece. You write very well. It is said that we cry for ourselves and not for the loss of a loved one. Do you believe this? I just know sometimes the pain is hard to bear.
